I just downloaded the new Gmail Mini program for the Treo 650 which is a Java program so make sure that you have the IBM's WebSphere. Now as I am typing this it has just downloaded. I have tried to power it up but I am not getting a connection at the moment although my Treo 650 does have a GPRS connection and can surf websites fine etc. So if you have downloaded the Gmail Mini specific for the Treo 650 and to do this just point your Palm's browser to http://gmail.com/appand download, and if you get this to work, please leave your thoughts in this thread on how you got it to work. I'll have a play with it for an hour or so and see if I can get it working, I'll report back later.

Sammy,
I just tried too. I saved it to my card but it is a .jad Java file and I don't know what to do with it. I selected Launch in ZLauncher but nothing happens.

If you go to the IBM Java program it should then prompt you to install, should be a quick process of installing and then you can click on it to open. Unfortunately I have still not gotten it to connect yet.

When I download and try to run the IBM Java app, I get just a blank white screen. It doesn't freeze, but it doesn't run either. I have a Treo 650 on Sprint

UNLOCKED TREO 650
I downloaded or at least I think I did.. the www.gmail.com/app and it asks if I want to save to my card. I agree... and it saves. I have the appropriate IBM Java Websphere files or at least I think I do both on my phone and on my SD card. I first tried it on the SD card with no avail then I installed the java files on my Treo. When I select IBM Java icon I get a scree that says midlet list with the option to install or exit. When I select Install, it asks me for tge URL of the Midlet that I would like to install. m.gmail.com/app, www.gmail.com/app, or http://www.gmail.com/app all result in an AMS ERROR. "the application descriptor was missing the required midlet-name field" I don't know any other way to install the downloaded file on my phone.
Is this how the rest of you are doing this?

OK the way I did it was to open Blazer, download the program, not to a disc but just to the Java application because it should give you this choice. Then exit Blazer, open the Java program and it should already be on the screen already to install the program. Install, you may need to do a soft reset, then open your launcher and you should see the Gmail applet. Hope this helps.

Here is some instructions:
You need to install the IBM JVM. Most of the new Treos have the IBM JVM preinstalled, an "IBM Java..." icon on the main menu. - If not, check the "Productivity & Entertainment Software" in your Treo installation CD. - If not, download the IBM JVM from http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/. - Afer installing the jvm, reboot your treo before trying to download the app. - Download the app through your Blazer browser, not the JVM. - Save the app instead of opening the app. - After download, there should be a gmail icon or can launch the app through the "IBM Java.." icon from the main menu

Works now for me, using a bluetooth internet connection... althought it is faster than m.gmail.com, I don't think I'll use this much, as the IBM Websphere takes up 1.6 precious MB's... and I get my gmail through Versamail already... Neat for those who need it though... give me a sec and I'll try it over 1x RTT... Yup, works fine with a Verizon Treo here in the states....
